In a Few Words—The seven thunders (last-day events) are based on Daniel’s fulfilled prophetic events of the past. In the order of Daniel’s time prophecies, the symbolic years, the sixth event would be:
1798 AD —The French Revolution, which began in 1789, abruptly cast off the Catholic yoke. On February 20, 1798, Pius VI had been dethroned, imprisoned, exiled, his private library confiscated, his state given up to plunder, and his subjects placed under the military control of the French General Berthier. (But this wound was healed in later years under the Lateran Treaty of Feb 11, 1929.) Daniel 7:2512:7.

NOTE–AT THE TOP YOU WILL SEE TIME IN  BLUETIMEThe Seven Prophetic Times of Daniel
Please note: The seven events are not the seven times.
1. 2300 days —The 2300 days is the umbrella for all the other times, and both the times of Israel and the times of the Gentiles
fit within its boundaries.

The seventy weeks or 490 days is separated into three times:

2.49 days —The time allotted to the building of the wall.
3. 434 days —The time allotted for Israel to prepare for Judgment and the coming Messiah.
4. 7 days —The valley of decision. The time allotted for Israel to accept the Messiah as the Savior of mankind.
These last three overlap each other in time and events;
5.1260 days —The time allotted for the rule of the Papacy.
6.1290 days —The time allotted for preparation (30 days) for the rule of the Papacy.
7. 1335 days —The time allotted for the saints to endure unto the end, when they will be called blessed to witness and be a part
of the final events in the plan of redemption.

P.S. —There is yet another time, larger than the 2300 days; the 2520 days or the seven times which is found in Levitius 26:28-34 and Daniel 4. (Daniel 4:16232532; 7×12=84 x30=2520) The pioneers of the Adventist message included this time in their preaching from 1831 to 1843 and it can be seen on their first chart. The 2520 started in BC 677 with the captivity of Manasseh by Babylon and ended at the same ending date as the 2300 years in 1844.

“Now I Nebuchadnezzar (ruler of Babylon) praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.” Daniel 4:37. This prophecy may cover not only the ruler of Babylon, but the nation of Babylon as well. Revelation 16:19. Maybe we should leave the door open for this time and its events to also be part of the repeated times and events of Daniel. Surely, the unrolling of the scroll will reveal much more than we now understand.

Daniel 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

NOTE–The Great Controversy,pp.446-The special characteristic of the beast, and therefore of his image, is the breaking of God’s commandments. Says Daniel, of the little horn, the papacy: “He shall think to change times and the law.” Daniel 7:25,
R.V.

And Paul styled the same power the “man of sin,” who was to exalt himself above God. One prophecy is a complement of the other. Only by changing God’s law could the papacy exalt itself above God;

whoever should understandingly keep the law as thus changed would be giving supreme honor to that power by which the change was made.

Such an act of obedience to papal laws would be a mark of allegiance to the pope
in the place of God.

The papacy has attempted to change the law of God. The second commandment, forbidding image worship, has been dropped from the law, and the fourth commandment has been so changed as to authorize
the observance of the first instead of the seventh day as the Sabbath.

But papists urge, as a reason for omitting the second commandment, that it is
unnecessary, being included in the first, and that they are giving the law exactly as God designed it to be understood.

This cannot be the change foretold by the prophet. An intentional, deliberate change is presented:

Daniel 12:6-7 And one said to the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, How long shall it be to the end of these wonders?
7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.

Introduction
The foundation which gives the study of Daniel clarity and added understanding is TIME! The prophecies of Daniel are unique because they are placed in time! Prophetic time is very restrictive, exclusive, exacting, and precise. Prophetic time requires a proper interpretation so that its fulfillment can be counted as complete! Thus the people who teach the proper placement of the times of Daniel and Revelation are a force worthy to take note of!

The very fact that these time prophecies have a beginning date and an ending date gives them a life of their own, and that life is given to them by the Mighty Angel of prophecy, —Jesus. It is He who holds in His hand the little book of Daniel and unseals its thunderous last-day prophecies.

They move through time as we do, and often with us, starting at a specific time or date and reaching sometimes far into the future giving us warnings or blessings.
Take children for a ride and it won’t be long before the first question is asked; Daddy, how long will it be ’till we get there? And that question is the question that man has been asking since the great controversy of sin started. (“How long” is asked 53+ times in the KJV Bible. [FS]) Daniel asked twice; How long shall it be to the end of time? Daniel 8:1312:6.

We serve a great God! He puts up with our repeated and often impatient (back-seat) questions, and even answers them before we ask.

In a Few Words—
For centuries prophetic researchers have followed down through Daniel’s time prophecies knowing where they were in the great plan of salvation.

These men taught the time prophecies to others and it is recorded for us so that we can understand that they knew exactly where they were in the progression of Daniel’s times and events.

Those who believe the 2300 days are symbolic, representing years, use such verses as Numbers 14:33, 34 and Ezekiel 4:5, 6. This principle indicated that a prophetic day stood symbolically for a literal solar year, a prophetic month for 30 literal years, and a prophetic year for 360 literal years. This method for interpreting prophecy is known as the historicists method. “This approach to symbolic prophecy, which will be designated by the term “historicization,” did not originate with (William) Miller but had deep roots in the Christian tradition.” {1977 PGD, FSDA 19.1} (Pieter G. Damsteegt, Foundations of the Seventh-day Adventist Message and Mission, p. 19.1)

Daniel—Daniel understood the day-year principle was applied to the time prophecies given him. He knew that the kingdoms of this world would reach, at the very least, 2300 years into the future! [See below.]

Jesus—Jesus taught the disciples from all the prophets that He was the fulfillment of the prophecies, which included the seventy weeks of years spoken of on Daniel 9.

He said concerning Himself that He was right on time; that He was the fulfillment of time (prophecies). (TAP AND OPEN ALL BLUE WRITINGS) [FS])

Disciples—We don’t know how much of the seventy-week prophecy the disciples understood before Jesus taught them; but it is safe for us to conclude that after Jesus taught them, they knew the times of Israel, as well as the times of the Gentiles! [FS]

NOTE-STUDY 2 FOR– FS–Seventy weeks of years— “The time is fulfilled”

“The burden of Christ’s preaching was, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent ye, and believe the gospel.” Mark 1:15.

Thus the gospel message, as given by the Saviour Himself, was based on the prophecies. The “time” which He declared to be fulfilled was the period made known by the angel Gabriel to Daniel. “Seventy weeks,” said the angel, “are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy.” Daniel 9:24.

A day in prophecy stands for a year. See Numbers 14:34; Ezekiel 4:6. The seventy weeks, or four hundred and ninety days, represent four hundred and ninety years. A starting point for this period is given: “Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks,” sixty-nine weeks, or four hundred and eighty-three years. Daniel 9:25. The commandment to restore and build Jerusalem, as completed by the decree of Artaxerxes Longimanus (see Ezra 6:14; 7:1, 9, margin), went into effect in the autumn of B. C. 457.

From this time four hundred and eighty-three years extend to the autumn of A. D. 27. According to the prophecy, this period was to reach to the Messiah, the Anointed One. In A. D. 27, Jesus at His baptism received the anointing of the Holy Spirit, and soon afterward began His ministry.

Then the message was proclaimed. “The time is fulfilled.” {DA 233.1}
“Then, said the angel, “He shall confirm the covenant with many for one week [seven years].” For seven years after the Saviour entered on His ministry, the gospel was to be preached especially to the Jews; for three and a half years by Christ Himself; and afterward by the apostles. “In the midst of the week He shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease.” Daniel 9:27. In the spring of A. D. 31, Christ the true sacrifice was offered on Calvary.

Then the veil of the temple was rent in twain, showing that the sacredness and significance of the sacrificial service had departed. The time had come for the earthly sacrifice and oblation to cease. {DA 233.2}

“The one week—seven years—ended in A. D. 34. Then by the stoning of Stephen the Jews finally sealed their rejection of the gospel; the disciples who were scattered abroad by persecution “went everywhere preaching the word” (Acts 8:4); and shortly after, Saul the persecutor was converted, and became Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles. {DA 233.3}

 “The time of Christ’s coming, His anointing by the Holy Spirit, His death, and the giving of the gospel to the Gentiles, were definitely pointed out. It was the privilege of the Jewish people to understand these prophecies, and to recognize their fulfillment in the mission of Jesus.

Christ urged upon His disciples the importance of prophetic study. Referring to the prophecy given to Daniel in regard to their time, He said, “Whoso readeth, let him understand.” Matthew 24:15.

After His resurrection He explained to the disciples in “all the prophets” “the things concerning Himself.” Luke 24:27. The Saviour had spoken through all the prophets. “The Spirit of Christ which was in them” “testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.” 1 Peter 1:11.”  {DA 234.1}

William Miller and the generation of mid-eighteen hundreds—The fulfillment of the fifth and sixth trumpets, August 11, 1840, was proof of the year-day principle. [FS]. William Miller’s dream is a dream of the day-year principle and related prophecies. [FS].
William Miller did not come up with something new by interpretating the time prophecies with the day-year principle. It is obvious that for centuries, if not all the way back to Daniel, that interpreters of the time prophecies understood the times as fulfilled in years!

Thus, William Miller could not have unsealed the prophecies, at least not in the sense of the day-year principle! (Nether can it be said that he unsealed the fulfillment of the 2300 year prophecy.

He was a strong voice in the generation of the mid-eighteen hundreds who realized, as many before him, that the 2300 years was coming to an end.)

The Last GenerationWe should regard the day-year principle as fundamental in establishing the basis for not only understanding the proper historical fulfillment, but it is also fundamental in understanding the proper order and timing of the last-day events.

We, as the last generation, should be fully aware (wide awake) of the fact that the time prophecies of Daniel and Revelation are written in literal time, and for a specific reason! As there is a type and antitype of the Sanctuary (the type = the Sanctuary the Lord had Moses build; and the antitype = the Heavenly Sanctuary)so we may conclude and reap wonderful blessings from the type and antitype of the prophecies, —especially those relating to the Sanctuary type and antitype, —both earthly and Heavenly. [See below.]
